Computational Thinking Concept: Decomposition
-

La Lluvia – Sequencing Key Details
Students will be able to put illustrations from a story in the correct order of events. Students will be able to retell the key details of a story in the correct order of events using the words beginning, middle and end (principio, medio, fin).
-

Decomposing CVC Words
Using letter-sound knowledge, students will be able to segment the letters in a CVC word into individual letter-sounds. Then, students will begin to blend sounds together to form consonant / vowel / consonant words to create a list of at least 10 CVC words.
-

Decomposing Numbers 5-10
Decompose numbers less than or equal to 5 (then 6-10) into pairs in more than one way, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 5 = 2 + 3 and 5 = 4 + 1).
-

Making a Sandwich
Students can write to explain the decomposed steps of making a sandwich using precise language and details.
