Computer Science
for all
Southern Oregon Computer Science for All (SOCS for All) is an ongoing researcher practitioner partnership funded by the National Science Foundation that includes educators and researchers from Southern Oregon.
Our goal is to provide K-5 students with the foundation to be successful in future STEM classes and professions.
So far we have found that CT, which is understood as a collection of concepts (pattern recognition, abstraction, decomposition, and algorithms) used in computer science, can be useful in helping K-5 students learn in a wide range of subjects including math, language arts, science, and social science.
With CT, teachers can provide a structural approach for students in elementary school classrooms to problem solve.
